I want to be able to download a track and burn it on a disc(CD+G) at the bar, then play it for the patron. The bar has wifi, so internet hookup is no problem. I just want to do this LEGALLY. Can anybody tell me what direction I need to go? Remember I'm a newbie so if this question has be ask before I apoligize.

Why burn it on a CD? If you are downloading it, by definition you have a computer to play it on. Just use a player like Siglos and play the MP3+G file.
Other than that, it is just doing it. You download the song, then get Power CDG Burner or Microstudio and have at it.

Because I do my show with discs. Atleast for now. When I go to a computer based system, I want get a screamin' mackdaddy machine. My laptop just won't cut it for what I want to do.

you can make the laptop do anything you want.
You need to have a progam the burns cd+gs and a compatible burner.
You won't be able to do it on the spot, while you are doing a show. Without a bunch of extra equipment.

You can do it at the bar if you have the proper equipment. They have external CD+G burners out there that plug in via USB and then just get the previously mentioned burner program.

Download Powerkaraoke demo. Try burning the files that you have in your HDD at home with the CDROM drive/burner that you have with the laptop. If you can do that there is no need to buy an external burner.
But I must say that I still find it a redundant process. Since you will have to bring along you laptop with you all you need is a cable to connect the laptop to your mixer and winamp to play those files. Since you are going to go digital soon why not take this as a trial or pre-laptop period.
What you want to do is similar to someone printing out their email to read and filed.

Downloading karaoke songs, file sharing. p2p, etc. for use at shows is illegal. Also, swapping hard rives at shows, which I've seen before is against R.I.A.A.

We aren't talking about that type of stuff.
We are talking about legally downloading tracks from tricerasoft.com or the like, and burning those to disk.
