I don't believe I've done a proper intro, so here it is.

I am from West Michigan and I am finally ready to start booking bars for karaoke shows.  I have a CAVS JB-199 Premiere system with lots of extra goodies.

I may eventually be moving to Dallas in a year or two, and depending on how shows are going here I may keep a "branch" running up here assuming I can find a good person to manage it, and start a "branch" down there.  I may also take everything with me.  That is, if the move even happens, as it is only a probability at this point.

There are MANY KJs in this area, most of which I am highly unimpressed with.  I have been singing karaoke for 10 years now, and wanted to get into hosting.  My business model is to offer a better set-up, more music, and a better show than my competition for the same price.  I have about 20,000 songs to start.  Most of my competition has an average of 6,000 songs.  So far, I have thousands invested into equipment, and will probably be spending an additional $1000 a year on new music alone to keep current.

My biggest question for you veterans out there is this:

What do you define as a "good" host and a "bad" host?  I see it time and time again in the forums and was wondering if there are any threads that specifically cover this subject.  Considering I am just getting started as a host, it is imperative that I set out on a path to be a "good" host, or I will not survive.

Any suggestions are WIDELY appreciated.

Any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Good to see a Kiwi in the throws!  I would love to finish my Degree in NZ, but I'm too worried about affairs over here to make the jump.  Who would manage my things while I'm gone for 2 years?
