,

I'm looking for a REAL EASY program to convert cassettes to cd's. I was doing a little "in search of", and came across "Audacity". I already have "Nero" for burning, I just need a program to "capture" the audio to my computer. Also, I have a Dazzle 90, audio/video converter, and wonder if I can use that to hook up the cassette player to the computer via the usb. Both my burners are Plextors, so I forsee no problem at that end. (760A & Plexwriter Premium)  I Just need to know about the Audacity program...or something similar. Again, it has to be real simple because as I've mentioned before, I'm more of a analog guy....computers are NOT my forte.

So..I'd appreciate it when you respond to use the K.I.S.S. method.

I'm going to load up for tonights gig, then take a nap. I probably won't be back to get any posted info until tomorrow......I'm not posting then ducking,.I'm posting then working. I appreiciate, in advance, your assistance.

If you have soundblaster, you should already have the Creative Recorder.  I have done cassette to computer just using the mini phone line in on the sound card with the RCA out on the deck.  Hit record in the recorder & stop when the song is done.  Manipulate the wave a tad & save to wav & burn!
Otheriwse Audacity should work & it's free.

 lonman,

Thanks for  the response.   Nope....no Soundblaster....don't even know what it is.
So....upon your recommendation, I downloaded Audacity 1.2.6.  Do you know if I can use the Dazzle 90 audio/video converter to go from my cassette deck to the computer? It has the 2 RCA jacks, S video and the USB connector.  What I'm asking is , can I  use the usb  or do I have to get the RCA to mini plug cable?

As long as it can capture audio through the line input on the sound card & convert to a wave file, you can use just about anything.

Soundblaster is a audio card.
