It's amazing what 1 or 2 degrees increase in average global temperature can do! Melting ice sheets, retreating glaciers, sea level rise... those are obvious effects. But all this weird weather everywhere. Wow!
Weather is amazingly complex (it's why they can't get the forecast right when looking at more than 6-12 hours in the future) I guess the weird weather is due to the slight increase in humidity which changes the large scale weather patterns (?)
If you want to learn more about carbon dioxide and the greenhouse effect, here's a start:

The Weather Channel has a program coming on called 6 Degrees. If the earths temperature rises 6 degrees it's a major catastrophy. Changes all the environments, causes major coastal flooding from the poles and glacial melting. Droughts and crop failures. Extreme weather events.
We're doomed i tell ya, doomed.

Biggest hoax of the century. Perpetrated so a few can make big bucks. The Earth has gone through cold and warm stages for millenia without man's help. Let's hear it for Al Gore et al who are scare mongering and lining their poackets at the same time.

For the past 100 years it has gone in 30 year cycles. In thirty years it will be the exact opposite. With our population we do need to get rid of the internal combustion engines and all the other polluters. When I go over to the front range corridor on main street I get a headache. But by gawd I dont have to put up with all that cigarette smoke. Every other business is going broke and petroleum industries are making more and more profits? Who runs this country?
Tim whats the price of gas there? Across the street it is about $2.75..

Comparing Canadian and US gas prices is like comparing apples and oranges. Half our costs are in taxes. But then again I don't have to worry about how I'm going to pay for any medical procedures or lose my house to a heart attack, cancer, or anything else.
And remember Mt St Helen's spewed more crap into the air than all the pollutants during WWII.
And how can you trust someone who stated they were responsible for the creation of the internet. Al (my energy costs are more than soe people make in a year) Gore is out for one thing, Al Gore.

Most of the unwanted hot air is from the politicians.

Here ya go:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,333328,00.html
http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/edito ... arming_go/
2007 was expected to be the warmest year on record, but instead apparently was cold enough globally to nearly erase all global warming for the past 100 years...temperature wise.
Many scientists believe that solar cycles and fluctations have much more to do with global temperature than CO2 greenhouse gas.
While there was a global cool down last year, let me say that doesn't negate the trends of the last 100 years. There is variability in weather and a trend cannot be established without a lot more data and years where it is cooler. Earth has been in a long term (10,000 year) global warming cycle naturally from the last ice age. The real debate is whether man's activity is exacerbating that.
