Ok I bow to all the experience in this forum.
Here goes.
I am a older guy going into KJing. My cpu is a dell Latitude D-600, 1.4 mhz, 1.5 gigs of ram etc. I also have a 500gig ext hd with a ton of cd+g in bin (I think) format.
1. I need to know / find more info on running the program.
2. I can not find any graphics on my screen (ie what the singer will see.
3. Can I import more than one folder at a time. I want to just do my entire hd.
4. When I play MP3's or music from "Sax N Dottys, my music sometimes skips. I thought I had enough ram etc.

Please help me if you can and thank you in advance.

OK - I'll take a crack at this.

Your computer should be more than powerful enough for a winamp based karaoke software.
More than enough memory.

Why do you think your hard drive has bin cd+g file?
What are the file extensions?

What version of Sax n Dotty's are you trying to run?
It sounds from your post that you're trying to use the free zip player.

1) To find more info about how to run SnD is hard to come by.
There used to be a lot of info on the SnD message board,
but it's been removed.

2) What version of the MP3G plugin are you using to display the graphics?

3) If you're using the free player, then you can't import more than a folder at a time.

4) What version of Winamp are you using?
Unless your computer has other programs running at the same time,
you shouldn't have music skipping. I'm also assuming that the skipping
is happening at random times, because if it's happening at the same spot every time,
then there's something wrong with your files.

If you're running on XP, start the task manager
and see what your CPU usage is at the time of the skip.

If all of these questions are a little over your head, then I suggest you try some other software out there. You will need at least some computer skills to set up a winamp based karaoke program

I wouldn't use ANY software if it weren't supported, and that means interactive msg boards or a site to go and ask questions.

Well, SnD does have a web site where you can ask questions, but there was a wealth of info available from the message board that is now lost and that's a shame. I hope Paul changes his mind and brings it back.

Answers to the questions like the ones wcast are asking were there for everyone to see. There also was a great community of users that were willing to help and share their knowledge.

For me and my users, once you configured Winamp and SnD, the software is rock solid stable. I have guys doing 5 nights a week and never had a software problem with SnD and Winamp. It just works.

It's not that hard to configure, but you do need some computer knowledge.
Once I've configured a system, I normally lock down the settings so my users can't accidentally change things.

It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it does give you a low-cost, low resources karaoke system.

Other software like roxbox and debs software are other winamp based karaoke players that are worth looking at also.

I am a SnD user, and have been for several years now, and absolutely love it's stability, and ease of use.

As for the problems you are having, I will try to help you out.  But We do need a bit more info.  Answer the questions diamondd asked, and one of us will point you in the right direction.
