Can you just tell the program where the files are on your HD and have it scan those folders to build the book? Or do you have to type in which discs you have an it builds the book from what discs you tell the software you have?

Also, I saw a couple of books at different places where the books list the artist in bold as a main heading and then all of the titles under the artist heading. I wonder if this is a common feature for most book software?

There are several programs that offer the from the harddrive that I know of and they do it a cou[ple of ways.
One way is straight off the disk drive which I am aware of two that do it:Songlist Generator and Fast Tracks Plus. both allow for update lists in a manner of speaking Fsat Tracks has it as a feature where you have to tell SOnglist Generator what folders are your new ones.
The other way uses the database created by Karaoke hosting programs and they are Hoster(from their format), RoxBox and Fast Tracks (using Compuhost's database export file). I use the last way with CompuHost. Out of the last three programs, Only Hoster and Fast Tracks offer in it's features an update list capability so that you don't have to repprint the entire book everytime you add new songs.
RoxBox you gotta do the Songlist Generator method to get an update list.
