I've never used Linux in my life before I bought my EeePC 7" and honestly am not the linux-fanatic kind but I have to admit this does the job. Then again, it really depends on what you want to do with it but if it's just to boot fast, check your mail and write an .DOC file or two, watch a Divx movie, listen to some MP3.. Why would you carry around something heavier, with a worse battery life and more expensive?
Why wouldn't that be a "Real" computer?
My thoughts exactly. She doesn't need all the things we already HAVE on the other 2 computers in the house, she needs portable wi-fi with a flash drive pretty much.
The battery life on those is pretty nice, I read that in the description. God knows, the girl forgets to charge her Ipod and cellphone often enough, it'll be nice that this laptop carries a nice charge...

As for it running Linux - it's a customised install with a friendly front end. It's preloaded with all the apps "Joe User" will need, and there is no real learning to be done. It's not even like you need to be aware of the OS - you just see an icon and click it.
Kinda fits the "I want a PDA but I find them a bit small" market.
Thanks for your input nlouch.... seems the only negatives I've gotten are from people who haven't actually had one.
That being said..... it's on it's way, so we'll see how she likes it;) I sure wouldn't mind one for myself just to be able to carry something that small and portable for wifi anywhere.. at times I don't need all the other laptop hoopla, just want to be able to jump online.
