Has anyone used these two programs together successfully? I can't seem to get the songlist imported properly. I'm using the disk-track#-artist-title format and the output from Audiograbber seems to match it exactly. I thought i had success earlier until I noticed the artist column had the wrong info in it. My original problem was the way Freedb supplied audiograbber with the disc name. CB-E8-01 as the disc name caused Compuhost to read the naming information incorrectly. I renamed the disc to CBE8-01 and it read it incorrectly again. Renamed it to CBE801 and the naming convention now looks correct but Compuhost now won't import it.

This is what the filenames look like:

CBE801 - 01 - Tex Ritter and His Texans - I'm Wastin' My Tears On You.cdg
CBE801 - 01 - Tex Ritter and His Texans - I'm Wastin' My Tears On You

I'm selecting the 1st option Disk/track#/Artist/Title.
I'm selecting Uncompressed CDG files(MP3+G/WMA+G)
The source folder points to the folder the files are stored in and I even have subfolders checked.
I have rebuild entire song list checked and then click on import song list.

I was all excited until I realized the format was wrong. I know Compuhost has it's own ripper but I was trying to avoid having to pay for their database as I already have KSLC to make my books and have been spending a lot of money lately.

Well, after much experimenting and looking at the help files about 15 times I figured out my problem. There can be NO spaces between the disc-track while every other item can have optional spaces. Now I have to figure out if I can configure one of these two programs differently to make this work. Hopefully this helps out someone else and saves them some time.

Audiograbber has an advanced setting that will allow you to change the naming format of it's output. Hopefully I did it right and I'm back in business!

Apparently you are opting to use the FreeDB lookup in Audiograbber. If so, be forwarned! You're going to find ALOT of inaccuracies and mispellings in the FreeDB database, along with inconsistent Title and Artist naming standards ie: Last Name, First name and the reverse, Firstname Lastname.

Hope you're ready to do a bunch of editing if you intend to keep your song files consistent!

Your Database is like your Karaoke Bible. If you have a large collection and SKIMP here... Boy are you asking for it. Compuhost is such a nice program.

1. You Must Get Your Files in Order.
2. You Must Use A Reputable Database.
3. Freedb Is Simply AWFUL! Too Many Errors!

You Skimp on these... Headache After Headache!

I guess part of the problem is that before I found this place my internet searches weren't real successful. I found and bought Karaoke Song List Creator and other than printing speed directly from the program it has worked well. Once I export it to excel and print from there it is much faster. So, I already have spent $99 bucks on a book maker.

From the poor rips I'm getting on the graphics portion of the cdg's I'll be looking for a solution other than audiograbber with a suggestion from Lonman to look at the ripper in MTU and another to look at Powerkaraoke I believe. I just downloaded the trial version of Hoster to start experimenting with it although I did really like most of the features in CompuHost.

So, do I go with CompuHost and spend the extra dollars to get their bookmaker/database program, or do I go with Hoster which looks like it will run me a little bit less but will be easier to explain to the wife? ! (look honey, my new hosting software came with a song book creater free!) I'll know more once I play around with Hoster and compare it to CompuHost.

How would you all rate the databases for these two programs? Or suggest I go about doing this? I haven't bothered to count but I currently have at minimum 120 discs adding up to 2000+ songs. Thats a lot of typing to do it manually.

poor rips with Audiograbber? It's all I use, and I much prefer it to CDRWin. Haven't installed MTU, never wanted it, so I have no need to buy their other products.

You probably have a Plextor drive.

Do a search on this forum for both of the holsting software your interested in.
There's Lots of Info available. You can really get a good Feel for Both.

The audio was fine from the limited testing I did, it was the graphics. The drive I'm using is an Optiarc BD ROM BC - 5500s ATA Device.

PowerKaraoke and MicroStudio are the only two I know of that have the best error-correction.

WRT Hoster, I am not a fan of their software. Still, they are the second or third best. I own both Hoster and CompuHost, and I use CompuHost for gigs. I find it to be far superior.

I agre with mckyj57 on this one. I tested the same song with Audiograbber, KJrip N zip, CDG Rip and Powerkaraoke and only powerkaraoke came up perfect at max speeds on a stock dell cd-writer. The others left glitches in the rip. I also tested it with hoster and hoster came out the same as powerKaraoke.

I have to agree with both of you on this one. I've now tested with demo versions of cdgrip, hoster, powerkaraoke, and audiograbber. With the drive I have, only Hoster and Powerkaraoke give me clean rips with the graphics. At this point I'm kind of leaning toward Powerkaraoke and Compuhost together.

It kind of makes me wonder if I should look for a ripper other than audiograbber for my audio cd's given that I had some trouble with the graphics. Any thoughts on this? If so, let me know what you recommend.

Audiograbber is fine with audio only in my opinion. I still use it to rip dj discs. Just not karaoke ones.

Audiograbber has no problem reading graphics only if the drive is a real cdg player like many Plextor and old Yamaha drives. In fact, this software will give you an excellent sound, way better than any MTU software. I would strongly recommend using it to extract audio and compressing in mp3 with a good Lame encoder at 192k +
I have an old Plextor which I only keep for extracting cdg's using Audiograbber and I NEVER get any broken letters and I also get a great sound
