i would like to record m y hubby singing ..this is what we have in equipment at the moment so could someone tell me how to set it up for record
8 ch mixer
800 watt amp
400 w speakers
mini disc recorder
laptop
radio mic
and i hve all his cdg 's on laptop so the music is there or they are on his mini disc

hi Alison, I am of no help if you are wanting to record to mini disc but I would suggest that you could record straight to the laptop or a desktop using a free prog called audacity. It is a nice prog that allows you to capture and edit as well.
If the music is already on the computer all the better. You can have the music on one track and record voice to another then mix together :)

Hope someone can volunteer some info for mini disc recording. The only person I know who uses one isnt a member of this forum

oh and one other thing...I would bypass the speakers when recording and use headphones, you would get a far cleaner sound :)

You did not say what mixer you have; but whatever model it is, it should have a record out/ line out/ headphone output. Use one of those as an input to your mini disc recorder. You may need to get the right cable to connect the mixer to your recorder.
And if you have to record with the speaker turned on, please try and get the vol as low as possible.
