I have 8 par 38 around the stage controlled by an NSI light mixer. 4 beat activated lights for the dance floor. It makes a really big difference in the atmosphere & the way the singers feel more like they are in the spotlight rather than just standing on the floor of a bar holding a mic.

totally agree. i use a the same setup

Also as said before - fog machines DO NOT create an "I can't breathe" sensation - it's not smoke - it's fog. And I scent mine nicely anyhow. But with most things - less is more. Then again, I do want a heavy fog machine to get that "fog sat on the floor" effect.

Ahaaaaa, but a blanket statement like this isn't necessarily true for all people.

As a singer in bands for years I've always had problems with fog. While it doesn't give me an "I can't breathe" sensation it DOES irritate my throat and gives me an extremely irritating tickle that won't clear until the fog does (fans help). That is definitely a hindrance when performing.

I can't afford a haze machine (very costly) but I do have a low-lying fogger. I just use for dj gigs though, not karaoke.

Nope, I concede that you are right - it was a somewhat sweeping statement.
