I like the helium analogy Kappy...I think the pitch shifter thing is supposed to be of most use in small sections...not that I have ever learned how to use one...I believe adobe audition has one I just havent got to find it...I know I should cos everything I sing sucks in one or two places and I would love to wave a wand and fix it.

btw, Has ANYBODY heard a singer that can actually cover nazareth "love hurts" very well ? I have never heard that song covered by any male that can make the song sound decent. Some females with rasp can, but I've never heard a male do it well.. I've heard many a male hack up and butcher the song, yet never cover it well.
Likely among the toughest "higher register" songs in classic rock.
