OK I have been using my Behringer UB1202 mixer + laptop on my home theater speakers- i know i know this is a no no that is why i need to get a more beefier setup as im using this in a very low volume so i dont blow my tweeters. So what are my options? SHould i keep my mixer and buy a powered speakers or monitor to use in my living room? so should i just go buy Portable PA system like the Kuston Profile One that can be seen in cragslist for $250? I need to spend as little as i can as my wife thinks spending all these money on karaoke setup is silly. Please help

First, do you plan on using that setup at home? I'm guessing yes, but need to know for sure, before I (or anyone else) can give you advice.

Only problem with that mixer is there are no effects for vocals. You may want to take that into consideration. You can usually pick up a decent mixer with built in digital effects for under $300.
Otherwise yes you could just get a couple powered speakers - this will more likely sound much better than the Kustom PA package - not knowing which model, they have a few packages named Profile.
Not a huge fan of these but it is an option for powered speakers.

Just start off with one & then you can add a second one later.

The MG82CX from Yamaha is under $200.00 and has compression and decent effects.

Those actually sound pretty good -- much better than the Kustom speakers I have (and use for monitors). I am lucky I bought a pair when they were only $199.00 -- they have increased by $80.00 which makes them closer to their nearest competition, the Tapco.

Behringer also offers a wood (well composite) cabinet low-power active for $50.00 less. If you aren't transporting them much you might find they sound as good or better. They run $229.00:

I tested the Kustom Profile Systems both the One and Two. The One seemed Ok until I went to sing through it. It had no mid-range on the speakers. I could hardly hear myself. On the Two, The Left Channel went out on two different systems in a row. We gave up trying to carry the Kustom line. My favorite all-in-one is the Fender Passport 500 to date.
