Hello all, not only am I a newbie to the site, I'm still fairly new to karaoke having just worked up the courage last year to sing and now I'm ready to start my business.

Call me Bing or Ripman, I am from Muscatine Iowa but will soon be moving to Toronto. I am currently ripping 150 cdgs to my compuhost that I just figured out today on the laptop I just bought on ebay for $242. I have a 160 gb hard drive and I am trying to figure out the rest of my outfit. Speakers, mixer and amp or mixer/amp plus mics. Hoping to finish those off under $1000 and start doing some small parties and maybe a few free shows here and there to get my feet wet. Hope to pick up some tips here, looking forward to some chats! :D

Hello newest newbie of all. :D

I'll call you Bing, reminds me of Chandler from "Friends"... my fav tv show;)

Welcome to the site, there's lots of threads to gather information, and lots of nice people to help you out with suggestions.

I am also a newbie and new to the site and the karaoke world as a business! I have been singing all my life! I am trying to find information on what computer to buy and what programs to use as right now I am doing it the old fashion way using disc with a JVC-CDG player! Its a lot of work and a lot to load an carry! I want to make my job easier so I do not have to drag my poor husband with me everywhere as he gets up for work at 4:00 a.m. and gets no sleep! He said he is with me thru November and then I am on my own! HELP! Any help is appreciated! Thank-you, Tricia (Tricia's Tunes Karaoke)

Welcome to both the newbies !

Unfortunately one of the downsides of being a host is lugging around all the heavy equipment. I use passive Eon JBL speakers to lessen the load. Most of your tech questions will gladly be answered over in the tech forum. Good luck to both of you.
