How much is 'HYPE" and how much is "TRUTH" concerning some of the manus of powerd mixer systems that have a feature or switch "JUST FOR THEIR SPEAKERS"
My current Behringer unit has one and so does the YAMAHA emx512 I'm looking at -
Will it REALLY sound better if you use YAMAHA SPEAKERS with a YAMAHA POWERED MIXER ????? and engage the ...switch?????

They have special eq settings built in that are tailored to work better with their own systems, but may will work equally as well with other speakers. Of course a manu wants you to buy all their stuff so they are going to make it more appealing to say that their stuff is going to sound better with their stuff - and yes sometimes it is true, but i'd say it's more hype.

The critical part of mixing components is impedance matching. Maximum power transfer occurs when the impedance of the load matches that of the source. The bandwidth or frequency response should be fairly close. Audio is audio. In RF amps esp high frequencies it is more critical even with cable impedance. With video you have to adjust delays in cable runs.

a speaker and amp should be matched for both efficiency and a flat response. Maybe most people wouldn't hear a great difference but eq'ing could help if you can tell.
