8) "Ding Dong Fest Is here Ding Dong Karaoke Fest is Here !!!
"Woo Hoo another season of driving all over Southern California, eating allot of bad food, drinking allot (and I Mean Allot) of bad drinks and having one Hell of a time doing it! Thank you Karaoke Scene and all the Venues for giving us such a wonderful way to get to know Our Community and for letting us show off out talents or lack there of to all of So Cal!
This is hands down one of my favorite times of year. I get to see all of my old friends and get to make a ton of new friends, all the while having the time of my life singing and supporting those around me!
So Good Luck to everyone this year and I hope to see you all out there. Lets take care of each other and watch out for one another while were at it!

I'm sorry Musicgirl.. I really find it hard to respect a competition that is so large in a regional sense that the national level singers have to spend thier time out there to attempt to qualify and compete out there..
I just don't find any reality in it at all. I have been to the professional Recording & performing industry level as a vocalist and I am also a KJ, and I love KS' motive and the spirit, but my heart tells me that this event needs to be open at the event site to singers to sing at all levels not just the southern california qualifiers.
If this can be achieved, I can see KS Magazine's success level soar as well as the continued success of karaoke as a whole in the US.
Regards & best of luck to the qualified singers,
Brian Douglas

The KaraokeFest Creme de la Creme competition is now in progress and open to all (over 18 years old). It is true that you must qualify in Southern California at one of the 22 participating venues because it is, after all, based there. The original post referred to the sense of camaraderie that develops among the contestants as they compete at various venues throughout the huge 5 county area of Southern California. This is very true. Contestants meet new friends and experience new Karaoke venues in their quest to make the finals at Knott's Berry Farm on Sunday, May 23rd. Many look forward to this competition for this and many other reasons. Last year there were over 1,400 contestants
The KaraokeFest Creme de la Creme competition continues to be one of the most popular and prestigious Karaoke competitons anywhere. In addition to the thousands in cash and prizes, the ultimate male and female winners will again sing live on the nationally syndicated Mark & Brian radio show on Wednesday, May 26th. The finals at "Fest" will be hosted by (voice of the Golden Globe Awards, Country Music Awards and KZLA DJ) Sean Parr. It should be one heck of a show.
In addition to the Creme de la Creme competition, Knott's talent scouts will be monitoring the children's stage in Camp Snoopy (one of sseven Karaoke stages located throughout the park) for voices which they feel may be appropriate for their Peanuts characters for use in some of their promotions.
Additionally, you will find major Karaoke hardware & software manufacturers and retailers at exhibitor booths located throughout the park where you may see, experience and/or purchase the latest and greatest Karaoke products.
KaraokeFest is the largest annual gathering of Karaoke enthusiasts anywhere. As you can see, there will be a whole lot going on at this event...something for everybody. See you there!

I wish I could particpate ...but I don't have the money to hop on out to the coast....sounds like fun....
Wouldn't it be great to have a nation wide contest...where a singer would move from local venues to regional to state and so on....
