I think Neil's so popular because he sings in a very reasonable range for guys. Went to karaoke last night, and I swear they had gotten our little list and decided to sing every hated song on it!

Putting the cart before the horse.....the reason those songs are on this little list is because they all get sung so often at every venue.

Kris Kristofferson - Why Me
Merle Haggard - Swinging Doors.
Sorry if you're reading this Jimmy (highly unlikely...what's this internet thing again?) but twice a week for the last 18 months will put a damper on them for me.
Everything stays in the book, bartender approval is needed for certain songs depending on the venue. Most of the time they trust me to gauge the crowd. Yet to get 'At A Medium Pace' requested at an appropriate time.

Speaking of "At A Medium Pace",,,that's one i can do without. Just from my own personal taste though. If I never hear that one again, it'd be way too soon. As for some of the others mentioned, yep, hear them way to often as well. But, every once in a while someone will come along and sing them quite well. Like "Before He Cheats" and "Crazy". More often than not, they torture me with 'em instead.
Other songs I would totally "ban" is,,,"Down With the Sickness" . I agree with the other poster,,,the person who sings it is usually too drunk to even stand, let alone try and squawk a song out..

My friend Mike B. wanted me to add "After the Lovin'". We often refer to it as "the song that shall not be mentioned," and consider it a small miracle if we get through the evening without being subjected to it.

Tell that to all the women in our area who constantly request it....

I try to "get even" by singing along to the hated songs in the most hillbilly accent I can, (or in the style of a cartoon character)
FWIW, a few nights ago I saw singers at a table playing a game of "it would be a perfect night if nobody sang....." and many of the songs listed on this thread were on that sheet of paper.

a friend of mine does that. He thinks he's funny. What he doesn't seem to understand is it pizzes off every serious karaoke singer that goes to the gig.
Don't get me wrong, there's a mild chuckle or two from the non-singing regs.
But I think karaoke has ENOUGH of a problem without people intentionally singing stuff like crap and thinking they're oh so witty!

The other night a trio of guys tried to see what horribly embarrassing songs they could make the other guys sing. It was actually quite entertaining, because the guys were really trying their darnedest to sing them well. I think it was "I Feel Like A Woman," "I Touch Myself," and "Baby One More Time." And these were all big, football-player types.

Let The Bodies Hit The Floor --- I have to leave the room when that songs going.
Picture --- Once or twice in a lifetime is plenty!
Creep --- Everyone who sings it thinks they're so f'ing special because they
sang "you're so f'ing special".

This is a nightly ritual in our club.

I can stomach just about every song on everyone's lists. Bad singers (or good) singing oversung songs don't bother me, but Fancy is one I have to tune out, no matter how well it's sung. I can't handle the tragedy of it. It's one that's sung just about everytime I go to my favorite karaoke bar. I'll either start talking in my husband's ear, because he knows how I feel about it, singing another song softly to myself, or go outside.

My room has actually backed off this one in the last year or so. It was so overdone. But it remains a karaoke classic for this age group.
Whenever it's done, it gets the guys in the room going with two finger salutes and they all chant right along. It has it's place. It's a keeper.

Bodies Hit The Floor is one of those songs that works fine when the right "voice" does it. Most guys can't growwwwl as good as they wish they could, on stuff like that.
I have heard singers around me at other tables moan and mumble when "Picture" is displayed on the audience's screen. I think that one is becoming a karaoke cliche all around...
One I'm becoming very tired of now is "I Love This Bar." It's so obviously corny and calculated ... I thought that just hearing it on the radio.
