I been reading a lot of the mxer post to see what everyone thins is best. Most folks seem to like Mackie and Yamaha best. Heath Aleln was gettign soem raves too. I have loked at these online. they do not seem to have video input/outputs. So really my questuion is, How important is video on a board, if you are doing karaoke don't you need to have that? Any feed back on this would be great. I have posted before asking about equipment because I want ot buy a really good setup for my karaoke at home. I will not been working as a dj. What ever I buy will likely never leave home.

Video goes directly from your PC or other player to the television. No mixing necessary. If you need switching, buy a simple audio-video switch.

You may want to buy a Video Distribution Amplifier. This will split your video signal so you can run it to multiple TVs without signal loss.

An Rf Modulator is necessary to go from RCA to RF input (the screw 75 ohm cable plug).

You go directly from your source (computer or player) to the amplifier. From there to the TV's RCA input.....

If you are running a computer and a karaoke player (many of us do so singers may use their disks), You need to add a A/B switch.

Now, you will take the outputs from your player and computer and run them to the switch. From there you will go to the VDA.

Some karaoke mixers actually have a slider for the video, but I'd guess the vast majority of KJs don't use one.
Now there are video mixers, that can combine video signals, like picture in picture, split screens, and actually laying the lyrics under the singer, when combined with a video camera.

If one wanted to do a big production or run add slides etc they are available.

One of the first video switchers I had to learn, maintain and repair was a Grass Valley

I highly doubt you are into high end video mixing but Pioneer makes a very nice video mixer we use for our school dances.

Even with this mixer a second mic mixer would be used.

Most people that use multiple players for karaoke just use a switch from Radio Shack.
