OK, I don't usually do requests, but there's a song I absolutely adore, and means SO much to me. I can't even think of it without a bittersweet smile...

Jon Bon Jovi - Every Word Was A Piece Of My Heart

I have looked at the usual source I use, nada! Anyone know if it was EVER produced?

I have a ton of Bon Jovi, but I've never even heard this song before. No luck with all my searches either.

I figured as such - but thanks anyway.

FYI: It's off his solo "Destination Anywhere" album. It had a real gritty UK feel to it, produced by the amazing Dave Stewart. A massively underrated album, which IMHO is some of Jovi's best work (alongside the "These Days" album).

The single was on the album, but also available as a B-side to the lead single "Midnight In Chelsea". The B-side was remixed by Dave Stewart and has a much more pop feel about it - and actually changes the whole emotion of the song.

Seriously, check either the song or album out if you haven't already :) It may be to your tastes, maybe not - but hey, we all love music :)

Not yet. I can already tell that my favourite version will be tricky, as it's very layered. But will try the original :)

Recommend any software? Not done this in quite a while and forgotten all my tools.

the pacemaker I've got installed has a devocalize button that will let you know what it sounds like with standard reductions.

I like Goldwave. You can select different settings on the devocalize options!

Cool song... :)

There isn't much Bon Jovi that I don't like... Unfortunately most of his songs have some very high parts that I can't find in my range any more.

You may find if you frequent some other Karaoke forums that somebody may share the same affinity for that song and may have already produced their own version of it. This is what I found with "Prayer '94" which is a cool acoustic/slowed down version of "Living on a Prayer" that was on the crossroads album. (for those who aren't familiar.) Found a couple of musicians who made their own version of it. I love singing that one... Stays in my range too. :D I only wish they made a version without the high Sambora background vocals because my wife likes to sing those parts along with me. :P

Sound Choice made a "Prayer 94" version on SC2336. It's done as a duet so your wife can sing the Sambora parts with you. Good luck trying to find the 2 disc set though. I don't think Sound Choice carries it any more but you might find one somewhere.

Wow... I had been looking forever and never even found a hint of anybody making it... especially SC. (who I love for MOST stuff)

Well, in searching (google) for the SC number, I did find this store selling it... CHEAP too... but it doesn't SAY it is Prayer '94... only says "Livin' on a Prayer"

That's the right one. I paid a lot more for it when I bought it. You should jump on it at that price, unless Sound Choice has it on their custom site for just a few bucks.

I have an accoustic version of "Prayer" but it's just that - accoustic (from the concert they did in memory of 9/11 firefighters). Prayer'94 has a completely different backing track, drums, etc.

FYI: Jesus Jones (alternative indie electronic band) did a remix of Prayer back in 94 too. It was not liked by Bon Jovi and has NEVER seen the light of day...
