I have a Yamaha EMX3500 16 channels powerd mixer. It's 200w @ 8ohm and 350 @ 4ohm; now i'm looking for a pair of 10" or 12" speakers to go with my yamaha mixer for my karaoke system for home use , small party, and family gathering. I plan to get a pair of yamaha S12IV; are those good ? had anyone experience of using Ramsa equiqment ? how are Ramsa WSA200 ???

Several Years ago I used to own a Ramsa Console.. they are just as good as Yahama.. I wouldn't pass it up if it's in excellent shape. And everything works well for a fair price. as far as the Yahama 12" mk IV series speakers.. they are ok for home use at that power.. I wouldn't take them in the club, if you do... you'll need subs and definately more power.

Good Luck.

If I'm not mistaken, RAMSA is the Pro Quality branch of Yamaha.

TOM,
I have been Brokering a deal this week, on some systems to an group entity and have been a little busy.. I will be consulting My Retailer and Wholesaler who both or do or have done Ramsa and Yahama. I'll get that answer today, being I really don't see much of that line any more atleast since tha late 90's. but i'll post a response as soon as I can.

Peace! :D

Hi Sprocket !
Thanx for your reply; and for Tom, I believe that Ramsa is pro quality branch of Panasonic.

The Yamaha S12IV would work fine for you. One thing to remember about karaoke sound...the focus should be around the vocals. 2 way 15" speakers are great when DJing but they don't put out the proper mid-range for vocals. I was using Yamaha S115IVs... sounded great, but again, the vocals didn't come out properly. I'm now using Mackie SRM450s. A smaller 12" sub is better suited for this business. Adding a seperate powered sub afterwards for more bass is always an option.

I stand corrected, RAMSA is a division of Panasonic.

Surge,
I disagree.. Most of the KJ's here that use Yahama.. use the 115's and get great results including myself.. and and also tend to also use outboard gear.. with them NOW some "Simpletons" as I would label them, won't get such great results with just a powered mixer and pair of Yahama 115 IV's. But alot of KJ's also want sonic quality over just Vocals, and so do the singers. I personally like JBL's And Higher quality Speakers than Yahama but I also use the 115's and have no complaints with them and have mine Bi-amplified. (converted and crossed over)

And do it without reserve. 8)

I have more questions, please help . I 'd have hard time learning how to use my Yamaha EMX 3500 powered mixer. When I listen to music, the sound is great but when I sing, it seems like music and vocal are not really mixed together. so do I need a separate vocal processor ? does my mixer lack of anything or do i just not know how to use its functions ? I'm a very newbie here so please help me out. all inputs are pretty much appreciated !
thanx you all

klover,

klover..

I don't really know the EMX powered mixer.. but, If it has a headphone jack get a good quality headphone. Like Sony's or AKG's Recording line.. (Closed Air Sets) They will run somewhere near $150.00 and up. They have the best quality to hear with.

(I personally will use wireless "In Ear" Monitors with a bass "Thumper" if I can The singers love the "Thumpers".) *Also protect them with your life if you can afford the systems!*

I guarrentee you, they will sound better than your speakers& and your total sound will improve overall.. Also, set up your mix with them to your liking, and THEN set the room from there. I use headphones to baseline all my channels on my console. THEN, I do my room from my outboard. It really makes my life and world easier to deal with.

I wish ya luck and hope ya like the Yahamas. :D 8)

the seperate vocal processor is up to you.. I personally recommend two companies right now.

Lexicon or TC Electronics. They both have great new products that are priced affordably.

Oh yeah, I forgot Yahama Just released a NEW Product too for Vocal Effects..

Behringer's stuff isn't worth the trouble right now if ya want it to last.
