guys thanks for the replys

yes my laptop only has 2 plugs and the cable from the transformer to the laptop is, as has been mentioned, only 2 witres anyway.

i may contact DEL and ask them.

also i do had the USB soundblaster unit but have been able to get it to work. it worked fine on my desktop, but then its XP and the laptop is Vista, so may have to upgrade the drivers
