Hi everyone, myself and my sister are hoping to set up our own karaoke business, I have been given a lot of equipment, but unfortunately not got the know how of it all yet, so this looks a great site for me. I am not the most technical minded and get a bit lost amongst all the jargon, but I'm sure I will get the hang of it in time. Hopefully trying out the system tomorrow at my niece's 10th birthday party, hopefully a bunch of 10 year olds will excuse the unprofessionalism
Mind you it's 3am now and I am still trying to sort out a few teething problems lol
Happy karaoking everyone 8)
Donna x

Many thanks, after one mishap after another in the lead up, the party was a huge success, and the kids had a great time on the karaoke. Reckon I am going to have lots of fun with it, although it was definitely more hard work than I was expecting

An extra question, as I said I am very new to this, all the equipment was left to me by a friend that has passed away. What is the best way for me to get new tracks to add to my list? and how much should it cost? Would this be better answered in a different forum?

Hi Donna welcome aboard !

You have come to the right place for info. Try the search option for topics or post in the tech or discussion room for answers. You'll find it isn't just knowing how the equipment works, but how to run a show that also makes you a successful host. Knowing how to deal with employers and patrons is a big part of what we do.

Welcome!

There are so many ways to get new songs and I'm sure everyone here has opinions about which manufacturers are best but here are a few reputable companies

Soundchoice www.soundchoicestore.com

they also have a custon CDG option if you want to get a disk with up to 15 songs that you select rather that getting disks that may have songs you don't really want

pocketsongs
www.pocketsongs.com

www.priddis.com

sunfly
www.sunflykaraoke.com

music maestro
you can find these at many various sites- I personally like www.karaokestar.com

you can also find good deals on ebay- especially if you're buying multiple CD's and can combine shipping, The karaoke star site i gave you - as do many of the others- gives free shipping if you purchase a minimun order amount.

if you want some REALLY cheap songs ...this one has them for a dollar per song
www.karaokefreedom.com

if you need edited length versions of songs www.musicalcreations.com specialises in that.

Hope it helps- best of luck in your new venture.
