I just invested in an expensive shure KSM9 condenser mic and a mackie SM150 powered mixer/personal monitor to use as my go to mic of choice...but on the way of researching what mic I wanted to get when price really wasn't an object- I found quite a few interesting forums with unbelieveable tech advise about what mic WOULD be the best if PRICE was a consideration. I'm not saying the cheapset mic out there- i mean a really GOOD mic that has a reasonable price for the sound you get. There was one forum that was comparing mics and the "bang for the buck" you get with each and most of the contributors were professional sound guys. One of those mics that they kept bringing up(and seemed in agreement about) caught my attention so much- I special ordered one to try out against the mic I currently use as a primary back up- a "Sennheiser 935". I plan on using my KSM9 everywhere I can- but sometimes when there is a crappy sound system...or a really loud venue- I know I'll have to drop back to a dynamic mic to prevent feedback. Currently that is the Sennheiser.

But the one that was getting rave reviews as a dynamic mic that "sounds like a condenser mic for a fraction of the price" was the telefunken m80...anyone here have any experience with it?As I said, I normally use my Sennheiser 935 as a back up- but plan on giving the M80 a try right next to it. If it really does have the clarity of a condenser mic in a dynamic mic package-at only 250- that would be a no brainer for me. But it brought up an interesting question. I'll be interested to see if the tech and gear junkies on here have parallel opinions regarding mics that are "the best bang for the buck" So what are the best mics out there?...pros and cons of each. I'll look forward to seeing what y'all have to say! I hope I won't be the only one to be interested in this question!
