Is it just me? But everytime I have any sort of Dairy...cheese, yogurt, even cream in my coffee- I inevitably end up feeling like I need to.... um....well I don't know how else to say it ....I always feel like I need to "hock a lugie" before singing from the tiniest bit of dairy.

But hard candy, gum or Grand marnier work wonders... :dancin: I've always wondered why one "coats" my throat in a soothing way ...and one "coats" my throat in an annoying way.

this ever happen to anyone else?

It's not just you - dairy coats your throat and creates phlegm. I avoid dairy several hours before I sing.

Grand Marnier - or a glass of wine - works b/c alcohol is drying...it kind of soaks up all the extra phlegm.

LOL Your not the only snot throat singer.

I have it happen also and from doing karaoke for so many years I can't tell you how many times in one night I hear a singer clear their throat before singing.

The most annoying thing is the throat tickle that makes you cough during a song. I'll try and hold it back until my eyes water. Aaaarg!

For me the strangest thing I notice is when I sing it always make my nose stuff up. Then of course it becomes hard to hit highs and then I start to sound nasally. I have just made it a habit to use a little Afrin right before I sing. Being somewhat lactose intolerant I generally stay away from most dairy products so I can't comment on that. Rudy.

I suffer from year round allergies and recently used nose spray before I sang for a wedding. Big mistake, it dried me out and made me a bit hoarse. I made it through, but my throat was sore after. If I'm singing karaoke I don't care if I'm stuffed up. I'm the snot nosed singer. LMAO
