Actually, ordination is free. If you print your own certificate, they don't make a dime.

You can choose to buy a package that includes everything you need to perform a marriage -- it's about $40.00 and you would be hard-pressed to accomplish the same on your own for that price.

So I think it is really just a service and a reasonably-priced one at that.
