I have recently purchased 3 customized karaoke disks, I assume they are in cd format. I went to two different karaoke hot spots last night and took one of the disks, it would not play on either karaoke machine. I downloaded a karaoke player to my computer...demo...and it does work on it. Any idea as to what may be the problem other than the 2 sites karaoke machines are too old and does not recognize the format?

what brand of player is it? If it's a JVC or RSQ player then they have known issues with burnt discs which is what type of disc that most Customs come on.

I also know sometimes the TYPE of burn, i.e. the old black discs, and the purple ones are not recognized my many discs.

You said you downloaded a karaoke player and it played there... could these be mp3}g format, rather than CD?

:( I have no idea what type of Karaoke player they were using at the 2 Karaoke bars. I did not download these songs, I ordered them from an online site that sells karaoke disks and they also make custom disks. One song I wanted they said they could not burn that song onto my disk so they sent me the karaoke disk Volume 55 of the Legends Series, but I do not know if that one would have worked or not. But when I put it into my computer to look at the properties of the files...they are cd format, the same as the one that would not work. I will fing out tonight if it or any will work at a 3rd karaoke bar. The website I purchased them from say they will work on 95% of all karaoke machines purchased in the last 3 years. MMMMM guess that must be my problem. I will never purchase custom disks again.

Where did you buy the customs from? I have around 20 as of last week & have never had 1 issue to date.

The one I know that does not work was purchased from: ABCD's Karaoke. I have one from chartbuster that I am going to see if they will work at a 3rd bar. All three play the music on my computer and on my blue-ray disk player. All three worked when I downloaded a karaoke player to my computer too. They are telling me that older machines and also JVC machines have trouble with the CD format. I do belive they are CD+G format since the cd format is only a windows 44kbit referencing to the disk for the graphics, words on the screen.

Thanks

Should only buy customs from the manus - this way you know 1, it's legal, & 2, you can get it replaced if it doesn't play! The one from Chartbuster should play fine.
If the one you bought through ABCD was the SelectA Track link, then not sure why they won't play, over half of my customs were bought from there play perfectly in every machine except my JVC/RSQ. Unless like someone mentioned you had them made into an mp3g disc, in which they will play on computers but not actual players.

No...they are NOT Mp3+G, they are CD+G according to ABC Karaoke and according to the properties for the disk when placed into my computer and checked out. BTW, the 3rd bar I went to to try to check them out....has ALL of their songs on computer so they said they cannot even play privately owned disks. :(

 okay, chill out... I was just searching various ways something will play in a computer but NOT play in a regular machine! You're correct... they SHOULD play!

Do you have a home dvd player?? Many of those will recognize cd+g discs!

and that third bar thingy??? That's why I always have a player with my system. The customer comes first, and I don't agree with the KJs that dictate how different a show has to be compared to when everyone ran discs... it should be seamless, if not better, not worse for the customers!

Custom burns use the EK system of copywrite protection which is incorporated on what would really be the first track. ( Which is dumb because a good burner that can copy track at a time goes right around it.)

This can give a reading problem to older players. They won't get past that "hidden track 1".
