Here's one for me....

I don't host shows very often. I have one place that I do a show at twice a year (Halloween and New Year's Eve), and I do the rare fill-in show for other KJs once in a blue moon. About 4 years ago, I was doing a regular gig every other Saturday. It was a 3 hour show (which I was paid $150), and it lasted about 5 months. Then the Summer came, and the Manager decided to cancel the Karaoke (since he said people went away for the weekends during that time). After the Summer, I couldn't do Saturdays (because of my regular work schedule), so he hired someone else. The show lasted about 3 months, and that was the end of it.

Last year, one of the regulars at that bar contacted me. She said that she (and several others) were asking the Manager to bring back Karaoke, and they wanted me. She asked for my Cel number, and said she would give it to the Manager. Well, I never got a call last year. A few weeks ago, the same Regular contacted me again. She said that the Management was interested, so I gave her my number again. This time, the Manager called me, and we met and agreed upon a price (same as 4 years ago).

Last night was my first show back there. When I saw the Regular who had contacted me, I gave her $50. She asked me what that was for, and I told her that it was a "Finder's Fee." She didn't want to accept it, and I told her that I've done this with friends in the past who have found me a gig. She finally accepted it and thanked me. She asked me if I was sure, and I said yes, and she also said that she really did need the money.

During the evening, there were 2 Birthday Parties being celebrated. The Manager came up to me about 1 hour before my show was to end, and asked me how much I would charge to stay for an extra hour. I told him $50, and told him that that is what I usually charge for a 4 hour show. He agreed and paid me.

So, here it is, I gave someone $50 at the beginning of the evening, and I got $50 back at the end of the evening.
