I guess this is just a ramble more than anything.
This past week I ran the "talent tent" at our local fair. I was in a 40 x 80 tent right next to the midway. we had a Karaoke show each day (ooh my what a bunch of talent out there!). on wednesday I had a solo banjo player / vocalist. He did a sing along show with the kids. on fri and sat we had 2 bands each eve varying from 60s to 80s rock to an all original group who had a really unique style (modern grateful dead?). a country rock band, and a 70s to modern rock band who were all 16 and 17 (really good too). during My karaoke shows we had a wide variety, but mostly country.and a "bluegrass trio" on sunday aft.
Ive got like 10 songs by taylor swift, I think they were all done 3 times or more. a couple were done like 4 times each show (gag). I also have 2 miley cyrus songs..i got plenty sick of those too, But i did love having the kids for karaoke. I tossed the normal "no repeats" rule out the window thinking we had a constantly changing crowd. but did not let somebody sing a song right after it was just done.
anyone else do anything like this? It was a lot of work, But the pay was "ok" and I did meet some great people.
the lil guy in pic 3 is 5, obviously can't read yet but he did watching you , he had help in the verse, but sang the chorus by himself. it was priceless. (Rodney atkins played the main stage that night) pic #2 is my "show me your rack pic
. the right side stuff is my normal karaoke rig. I usually set it on a single 18 sub. my hard drive, wireless mic , video converter and computer power supply are mounted in it along with the mackie powered mixer. I have 2 rack spaces avalible in there where i can mount a power amp for the sub or an ext effects and sonic maximizer.
