I run a slightly different show, where I am the sole entertainment for the first 2 1/2 hours with my guitar and backing tracks. Karaoke starts after that.

Yesterday I had someone ask, "you're miming arent you?" and "are you really playing that guitar or miming?"

so when I got back to stage, I played FAITH - george michael, just the guitar and me

and it went down really REALLY well. everyone, young and old knew the lyrics somehow. I am dying to find other songs that have the same impact.

Any ideas?

Thanks all.

One of those types of songs is "The Joker" for my crowd...or "One Way Out" by the Allman Brothers. They go crazy!!

Wonderwall by Oasis is a great tune for the acoustic guitar. I perform this one on my acoustic at my shows and it always goes over really well with just about any crowd. John Cougar Mellencamp's "Small Town" is another tune that everyone seems to know and like and can be done really cool as an acoustic solo (there's actually a version of JCM doing it acoustically at an unplugged show if you look around for it).

In the right country crowd, a good acoustic version of Jamey Johnson's "In Color" has been pretty big lately too.

I'd love to hear "Our House" by CSN on just acoustic.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I haven't had a chance to listen to all of your suggestions just yet, but I will be doing atleast 3 of them this weekend.

Wonderwall - I love that song, don't know why I have never tried it before.

Thanks all!!

And if you can mix in Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams with it, the younger people will enjoy that medley.

Check any of the MTV Unplugged hits for some great acoustic. Nirvana's About a Girl is one of my songs that gets a crowd clapping.
