A couple that comes to our venue just to dance has requested we do a salsa song. They are older so this wouldn't be the real revved up stuff. I am toying with "Mi Tierra" by Gloria Estefan but it might be a bit obscure for a Honky Tonk in Hell, Nevada. There must be a song that has the right beat but would still be recognizable to the masses that I just can't think of. Any suggestions? I'm thinking "Do the Conga" might be a bit fast for them. The song can be in Spanish as I'm dumb enough to try it.

The best dance latin song I know of is Suavamente by Elvis Crispo. It is technically merengue, not salsa, but the music is practically the same style, just designed for different dance steps (and you can salsa dance to most merengu songs).
Anyway, check that one out. It is one of the best selling and most recognizable latin dance songs of all time!!
