"I guess being a Canadian you know the exact length of every song in the book? As an American i'm not that good yet.

It usually happens when someone wants to change the song they were going to sing to a different song."

Please try to keep it quiet about being an American, I am proud that I am an American, not so proud that you are.

Then don't make promises. Simple. But then again I guess it's too much trouble to actually look at slips and estimate the time left.

I don't have to estimate anything. Compuhost tells me exactly how the rotation is going to run... and its pretty darn accurate. I use an average of 4 min a song. So when I look at the rotation at 12:45, and see its running till 1:20, and that I can fit in two more new singers before 1:30 and somebody wants to sing an 8 minute song, I'm going to ask them very nicely to pick a different song so the other person can sing too. Simple.

(Not that I'm trying to side with angel. ) I'm just saying. I usually find people understand that, and are accommodating.

I live in an area where two songs per turn is the norm, and some KJs have the rule that if your song is a long one, you only do the one song in your turn. I like doing "One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer" and "White Bird In A Golden Cage". And yes, I think I can hold a tune with my average voice. I do not like doing PBTDBL because I cannot hit those notes anymore, although one KJ makes me do it when some drunk chick wants to duet the damned thing when no one else will.
