She share the same ip with you, so she must be around some where near you.

Could be OKRA. Now I'm getting a craving for some Creole food.

Hello All,

Positioning can be your biggest key. You have to know how to position it so it becomes a client's DISADAVANTAGE NOT to work with you.

First realize that you are in the business of Marketing Karaoke, NOT being a Karaoke Host.

Then start to market. What do I do ? Direct Mail. It works big time.

List your client's benefits that they will get when they hire YOU. They are not hiring a KJ< they are hiring YOU ...

What do you do better then anyone else in your industry? Find that and exploit it. Make your offers benefit oriented to the bars and speak to them on thier level.

You can leap frog both the money you make AND the songs you need to have very quickly.

$75 a night would be good in my market (Athens Georgia), most bands or KJs make less than that on weeknights.

It is hard to compete with a college kid who does it as a hobby, or a multi rigger who has not added songs to thier songs or bought new equipment in 5 years (and pays a college student minimum wage to run the show).

Many bar's in this town can get 10 or more bands a week to perform for free. Most DJs work totaly for free in the smaller clubs.

I get many complements on my song list of 9000 songs from people who tell me they will never return to a club that has 25-30,000.

It is not quantity but quality.

Keeping it organized helps a lot too.

No-one really has >50k english language songs. Claiming that you have more than that is just advertising you are dis-organized.

The Kj with 90k songs is failing if the singer cant find the song they want. With a disorganized song list that may be more likely than a well organized song list of 8000-15000.
