Ok, I formally consider myself to no longer be a newbie! I've been here a year!
I do have a confession to make, one year ago this coming weekend, I was arrested for DUI. It's been tough depending on others to transport my equipment. Sometimes I use my bike if I'm just going to my regular gig and all I am transporting is my laptops. I can't wait to get my license back, I now have a 5 by 8 cargo trailer to keep my stuff in. Less than 2 months and I'm back! Trust me, I have learned my lesson! In case you are wondering, I am usually drinking gatorade at my shows.
I've been doing some private parties, the regular weekly gig and I owe what I have learned to this forum. I had no experience mixing, or setting up equipment. I didn't work for anyone, I didn't hang with anyone. I do have a friend that comes to my shows snd he is a DJ/KH and has given me a few tips, but it's been this forum. I love how we can agree to disagree. I love how I can pick up ideas here. I love that there are plans for members of this forum to actually get together and that many of you HAVE been to other's shows. Hopefully I will get to visit some of you. I do play on going to Orlando sometime in late January, not sure if that is near any of you but would love to come sing if so. A most awesome get together would be private and just everyone of us there. I think we could fill 4 hours plus!
A special thanks to Lonnie, he was very patient with me and gentle at the beginning when I asked a lot of goofy questions. Now I feel like a veteran!

Congrats Ripman, on making lemonade. Glad things are getting better for you. That's a tough pill to swallow.

Congrats on your success Ripman. I just made a year on the forum also, and ABSOLUTELY agree with you about this forum. I knew NOTHING about this business either, but now have one of the best shows around, (although without a gig at the moment). We're still building, and practicing, with a few places looking at us very hard. The few places that we did play, (fill-in), they loved our show. I take the credit for LISTENING, but, the real credit for making my company a success, has to go to the MANY people that gave me the BEST ADVICE around. To them, THANK YOU.
Rosario

Congratulations, Rip. I always thought you had a good stroke of luck to have someone be impressed with your set-up and attention to detail and hire you right off the bat. Didn't know you were dealing at the time with something that might have made someone else give up.
And Rosario--we shall prevail.

A year is a great milestone.
I must admit that I do have the fear of a DUI even though I don't drink very much.
I hear of people that I know from the bars who have gotten DUIs.
