I have a start up problem with my Mackie mixer. The left side channel works great sometimes and then will need about 10 to 15 minutes of what I call warm-up to kick in. ( I usually turn on a few songs when I get there and it is slow to work and let it run with the volume down and then it kicks in) I have swapped all cables around to exclude the amp or speakers. My mixer is a bit older but works great except for this problem. Any ideas and is it something I can send it in an get repaired easily. If I have to stop using it, what product would you suggest to replace it. I would prefer my nexy mixer to have (effects) reverb built in but I am open to suggestions.

Behringer makes a model XENYX 1202 FX mixer that is similar to my older Mackie 1202 that is giving me problems, plus it has effects built in. The old saying may apply that you get what you pay for but does anyone know from experience that the drop-off in quality is an issue. I have never used any Behringer products but they do a good job of tooting their own whistle.
Wow, there are tons of Behringer mixers on Ebay. I just don't know about their quality.

First off, you've definitely got an internal issue with that mixer. Unless you can find someone locally that has the knowledge to repair it, chances are repair costs would exceed what you could buy a good used one for.
As far as the step down from Mackie to Behringer, it's not as bad as it used to be, but still is significant. You're not going to buy a Behringer board and say jeeze this thing sucks I can't use it, but at the same time it's really not going to knock any socks off or leave you thinking how great it is. It would be an adequate board is about the best way I can describe it. There are definitely people on this board who love their Behringer consoles, so if the cost savings are worth it, might make sense to take a chance.

I have both. The only thing I don't like about the Behringer is it's noisy. There is a lot of noticeable underlying hum/buzz. Feature wise, it's great.

What is the model of the Mackie? I know they used to have a ribbon cable issue on some models that would do some weird things. It's an easy fix.
I dislike Behringer quite a bit.

As far as diagnosing your Mackie there could be a few things causing an intermittent problem. A couple of things the average user could check for themselves would be a faulty pot or possibly a cracked solder point. If you have a Mackie 1202 I don't think it uses a ribbon cable but if it does you could try reseating it.
As far as your question on the Behringer, I used to have a Xenyx 1832FX and found it really had no redeeming value for me. I didn't like anything about it from the pre amps to the FX engine I found it totally lacking. I replaced it with an MG series Yamaha on my "B" rig and found it to be a good mixer at its price point. I Use an Allen & Heath on my "A" rig.

I apologise for looking like I am hijacking a thread...but just in from a gig with the speakers and the mixer that londonlive recommended me to purchase and I can say that even though we were the opening act, our equipment's sound was far superior to the main act...so much so that several tables asked for us to go back on stage...not something we would do to another musician so we declined...but as far as Londonlive knowing his stuff, I would thoroughly recommend his advice

my dealings with Beringer is that if you get a good one it may be fine, but its a good idea to keep a spare with you cause ive seen it just up and quit or one night just not power on more times than I want to remember. I have heard some bad stuff about mackie in the last year or so, but never had an issue with any of the mackie mixers i have used or owned.

You might run your PA in mono until you get the mixer repaired or replaced.
Simply use a splitter cable from the right mixer output to both your L and R amp inputs; and instead of using stereo channels for your music input, use two mono channels from your laptop or CD+G player.
