These companies are NOT US or Canadian companies but are Mexican, and are located in Mexico, NOT the US. 2. The artists are primarily Mexican NOT US or Canadian. How many Anglos have heard of Ana Gabriel, Enrique Guzman or Los Hooligans, but they are popular Hispanic artists. 3. Because of the difference in the standard of living, that $7.00 (US) Karaokanta disc in TJ is about the same as that $30 Sound Choice disc you paid for at their height. When they IMPORT it to this country, they bump the price because we have more money to spend and it's still less than we are used to paying (I.E. Sound Choice Spanish Language discs) and they are just as good if not better. Don't make the blanket assumption that just because it was bought cheaper south of the boarder that it must be pirated. That's like saying the $9 box of Franzia wine I buy in LA must be bootleg because the same box of wine in Denver is $15. Off my soapbox. THANK YOU!!! I find it kind of offensive that some people jump to the conclusion that just because it's TJ and low priced that it's counterfit. That's just ridiculous.
I agree.. I've never seen any dishonesty in Baja or mainland Mexico..
I spent many years down there racing the Baja 100, 500, and the San Felepe 250..
Never saw any poverty, corruption, prostitution, or counterfeit merchandise.

Off my soapbox.
I've been mosy-ing in and out of this thread reading, and I for one am glad you took to the soapbox. The op asked an innocent question about pricing, not legal or illegal disks, and the gossip mongers were just lying in wait for the next opportunity to start spouting legalities. You said it just right, kudos to you Karen.
Good lord, this place is getting so full of horse shyt- it's no wonder so many people are going to other websites & prefering to lurk rather than participate here.
And you people gripe when we go "off topic" in the lounge to have a bit of fun.
Lol, I'm going back to the showcase, I prefer fluff over bullsh*t anyday;)

there's big spanish karaoke companies and they don't charge much for their Cds. Karaokanta, etc... and then they charge more for them in the states. Like i can go to Tijuana and buy the same cd that would cost $15 in the states for about $7.
There are many items you could buy 1/2 price in Tijuana - The truth is there are some Karaoke cdg that you can buy for $1 and some for $24.95. Just the way it is

And so you SHOULD be offended!
However, if you intend to participate with any regularity get used to what you just experienced. The FACT is that too many posters know more from afar than you know about what you are "holding in your hand". "Assumptions" are always more potent that "facts". You see, facts are supported by other facts while assumptions are usually supported by other assumptions!
And how do you debate an assumption? There's no printed evidence that you can look at and share with others! And even if you provided a picture of what you are "holding in your hands", someone will challenge something about the picture or your descriptions attached thereto!
Me, personally, I don't know any longer what karaoke tracks produced in the US are legal? I don't know if rights were contracted for to produce the track or if the correct fees were paid to the publisher for the tracks that were licensed?
