I was wondering if anyone has used the Numark Karaoke 01 Player..I was pretty happy after I bought it ..at least for a while until the word swipe started going black and white...now it just sit sin my closet..gathering dust..what a waste of money..maybe someone can repair it but I feel there went $400 down the drain

That's why most have gone computer route, there are not any players today really worth recommending for commercial use.

I got one for free from Numark just for being a blogger. KMX02 right?
http://www.numark.com/content1671.html

It's a sturdy little unit. I've worked it hard (5 nights a week) the last 2 years that I've had it. I *mostly* use PC but when a customer comes in with their own CDG we use that to play it. I've even taught my regulars how to cue up their own CDG's, so now I just ask them "Are you on the right side or the left?"

That's to bad about yours breaking. I would get it fixed. If Numark won't repair it free or cheap, take it apart and look for the obvious stuff that might have broke, then replace it. It's not like you're gonna break it any worse.

I've got a Numark unit which I bought refurbed from Musicians Friend. Maybe you could use them to get your unit serviced?

On the plus side the Numark doesn't take up all that much room for being 2 players mounted in a Gator road case and it has survived being dropped by Wannaroadies on more occasions then I care to ponder.

I do occasionally have a problem with player 1 on the unit not wanting to read a disc, but it seems to be an intermittent issue. Either it works all night or not at all - the player 2 side has been perfect every time. Another minor issue is that you have to remember to put it into single play when you fire it up if you want to use it for a backup karaoke player -- it automatically defaults to continuous play which can get embarrasing if you happen to forget - lol. I made a little note on the top of the gator case to remind myself about that little quirk.

I am tempted to get a drawer mount and replace the Numark with an old RSQ dvd unit of mine that still works well. I only need one player, the RSQ would free up some space for my other electronic goodies, I don't beat mix manually anymore and the Numark won't really do a key change properly.
