Does anyone use the EV sx300s? I run a tri-amped system with two 12" DB Technology subs, two 15" Peavey SP5s for the lows/low mids, and two Peavey PR12s for the highs/high mids.

Saw a good deal on Craigslist for two EV sx300s for $350.00. I know they are an upgrade to the PR12s, just want to hear people's experiences with them. Thanks!!

Absolutely terrific speakers, especially considering the sound/bass that comes out of those little boxes. And for that price, it is a steal. Go for it.

Over the PR12, you are going think you went from a Pinto Wagon to a Ferrari! You'll love 'em!

Yeah, EV makes some of the best gear out there right now. If i had the extra cash right now I'd redo my entire system EV or Dynacord.

It's possible those were stock, Eminence (Kappa Pro) is/was a supplier of EV drivers among other brands as well.

And it's not like Eminence is some cheap fly by night speaker company either.

I was expecting the ev DXV3150.

i'm running these with a plx3402 so i need more power but I'm not peaking anything. when the one blew it was at a band gig and we had someone doing sound for us. Full on sound reinforcement so everything was mic'd. Weird thing is the speaker didn't die during the gig. It made it the whole way. I shut everything down so I know there wasn't any cause for overexcursion at the last second.

Maybe it was too hot and cooled too fast? IDK?
