I cancelled my Friday Night Karaoke due to the extreme snow storm that was dumping on us. Did anyone else have to cancel because of the snow?

We don't get very much snow where I live, so more than an inch or two and most people will not go out until the roads are clear. I have not had any canceled gigs due to snow yet, but I have had one really slow night when the bar decided to close at 1am instead of 3am because the weather kept getting worse and there were only a few customers present. I didn't complain, actually, I still got paid for the whole night; which was pretty nice.

Here, if you can look out your window and still see over the top of the snow, they don't close anything. And I have NEVER missed a show because of weather in 5 1/2 years of hosting. In fact, the only show I missed was due to being so sick, that I couldn't even stand up without passing out. Just call me "the mailman of karaoke" hehe.

We've never cancelled due to snow. One night had over 6" - that's a ton for around here, bar was still packed.

6" is a skiff where i live. Our storms usually dump 18" at a whack around here. Except in Salt Lake and Utah counties, then they get a foot or so sometimes, but it usually doesn't stick around for more than a day or two. I hate winter actually.
My biggest question for myself is this,,, "Does my hate for winter out-weigh my love for where I live?" Only I can answer that one, eh?

we had 24" my guys still went to work. One bar closed cause they lost power. The other stayed open all night and it took my DJ 4 hours to make a normal 5 to 10 minute drive home.

My Friday show was also cancelled due to the forecast. Even though it didn't start really snowing to late Friday night I think the WEATHER NEWS scared enough people into staying home to make canceling the show a wise decision for the bar.

West Coast making out like winter bandits this season - mild sunny weather, no snow (yet), very little rain comparatively. Wonder how we'll pay for this?? Bummer for the east coast and they're going to get nailed again in the next couple of days. Vancouver could use 20-30 inches of show for the Olympics which begin in a few days. They're trucking in snow!

In several decades, I have NEVER cancelled a show-period. Not for weather, sickness ( I actully did a show where I had oxygen tanks hidden when I had a lung problem) or equipment problems.
As a matter of fact, some of my most crowded shows were during snowstorms when everyone else punked out- they all came to where they KNEW I'd be.
Karaoke folk are resilient...

We are also the mailmen of karaoke - one time in 14 years we had to cancel because our street was an ice sheet 2 inches thick. Otherwise, our old Windstar made it through everything. And yes, some of our most fun nights were when others were stuck at the venues after it started to show hard - they were so happy to have entertainment.

Could have worked tonight as the "storm" barely left a dent in the ground.

Well they cancelled me tonite and no snow on ground but afraid that the roads will be icy late.
My wed nite gig has been slow anyway last couple of weeks. I am ok with that, first wednesday i have been off in over 2 years. Might go check out another venue that has karoake on wed night. Go sing for a change. Hummmmmmm.
