I am modifying my snake at the HEAD end. utting a 1/4" mono end (removing XLR) so I can run my monitor signal over the snake to a powered speaker (with XLR input) at the stage.

Questioning my thinking on the soldering.......

XLR PIN 1 (gnd) & 3 (cold -ve)....Both go to Sleve/Grnd on the 1/4" plug

XLR Pin 2 (hot +ve)...goes to the TIP on the 1/4" plug

Am I correct ????????????????????????????

Why not just use a patch cable?

Or an adapter. that is what I am using to connect my new mikes to my mixer.

Most powered speakers take unbalanced signals, and if not, use an adapter as suggested, no need to take apart a perfectly good cabling system.

Do not put an unbalanced TS connector on your snake. That's just foolish. Get a TRS connector so you have all three conductors wired when you need them.

I understand why you would want to change the ends instead of use adapters, which are easily lost or stolen. If I were you, though, I'd just secure adapters to the XLR ends with tape so they won't get lost. Going from XLR to TRS is a step backward.

Yes.

Thanks.

Yes I was going to get the adapter, but I just got a gig where I will need to use it to run a monitor signal to the stage, and the gig is Saturday. No time to order an adapter. And the local "pro audio" guy has no clue or adapters.
