1. Sing one, bring one. You keep your place in the rotation. New people at the end.
2. Old/New. First rotation, boom. Second rotation, new singers are placed between old singers. As the rotations go on, new singers are placed farther down the old/new line.
3. The list. You write your name one time. The KJ calls you and asks if you want to sing in the next rotation. You don't tell them the song until you get up there. The rationale (?) being the person may change their mind before it's their turn. It works for this guy, as he has a computer system and just drags the song over.
4. The WTF system. One gal starts with a normal rotation. Her policy is that when you sing, whether it be solo, duet, or group, that's your turn. In reality, I have seen people sing four or five times in one rotation. Not fair to anyone.
5. The "wah wah wah" factor. People come in late, and immediately run up to the KJ, crying about how they had this or that, and can you pleeeease put them in...
6. But first, listen to ME! The KJ has to sing in every rotation, sometimes two or three times.
7. The dancus interuptus. When the load gets too heavy, the KJ puts the #!@* Cha Cha Slide, or Booty Call, or some other insipid dance crap on until they can figure out what they are doing. This happens quite often.
8. The dream system. This happens at only one club. Your name is in the computer, where they keep the rotation list. The system reads your singing, and the next song, adjusts to your previous settings, making adjustments as you go. Top end equipment, but makes any other rotational quirks seem null. System also shows which songs you have done recently, so you can try not to be repetitive.

Up in Essex and Dundalk. Lots of clubs in Essex. You can't spit without hitting a karaoke bar. Lots of competition, lots of choices. My normal hangout is getting ready to start using their Mackie SR1530 speakers with their already great system. I love these speakers!
