I need some help, please.

I have ripped some discs I got off ebay and when I load some of the Karaoke tracks into Karafun some tracks come up as- for example- Track 9- instead of the artist and song name or the song name. I have windows vista and for some reason I can't seem to edit the file attributes, I don't remember having this problem with XP. Anyone know of a program that I can use to see all the attributes like album, artist, track # etc.? and then edit or add information so the track will show up properly? Thanks

Are these mp3g files? There is a good chance that Track 9 IS the name of the file and no attributes were added when originally ripped. You should be able to right click the file if it's mp3, click properties, then click details. Here you will be able to add all the song info.

That works in XP, but I can't do anything but change the file name, seems REALLY DUMB. When I look at the file in the folder it will say: Party Karaoke Disc 1 - 01 Pink-Get the party started, but when I drag it into karafun it says Track 1. I've tried through the Properties but Vista won't let me see or edit the name, album, artist, etc. I've searched the internet for "edit file attributes vista" and other variations and I'm here looking for someone who has dealt with this problem.

Ok, I remembered a program I installed a long time ago that I haven't used in quite a while called tagscanner. I was able to modify the attributes of the mp3 file, but the cdg file doesn't show up in the file listing. I'll have to try zipping up a file to see if it changes the attributes to both and if tagscanner can even work with zip files. I don't know if this can help someone else, but here is a preliminary solution. I'd be interested if someone has another program or solution that can do this.

Weird I just tried it in Vista & it worked fine. Maybe you have something set for no changes or something.

I've had similar issues and I think it comes down to a difference in the way Vista handles ID3 v1 versus v2 information. I use ID3 Tagit to edit the ID3 tags from my MP3's. You can download it from http://download.cnet.com/ID3-TagIT/3000 ... 44467.html

Thanks guys. I downloaded it and I'll give it a try. I don't know why I'm having this problem, it seems awfully strange, maybe it is some sort of global folder setting or other type of setting that I need to change. I will continue to try to figure it out and if I do I'll post it here so that it can maybe help someone else.

try what Rip suggested, and remember, you do not need to change the CDG file at all. just sounds like the tagging for the mp3 file is a bit off. as long as the FILENAME for both the mp3 and CAD file are identical, they will link in the player. all you are changing is the mp3 v2 tag. most taggers like the one Rip suggested can make an mp3 v2 tag from the filename so it should not be a HUGE inconvenience, maybe just a small one.

Good point Paradigm. Don't need to worry about the CDG file as log as the mp3 tag is changed. I think problem is solved and understood. I appreciate the help.
