It was actually a great night for me.
My indoor fireworks kept in a lot that came for the outside fireworks.
Near to the end of the night I started someone off but got hassled by punters asking for songs.
He picked up mic. B instead of mic A.
No mic. volume and because of my conversation which lasted throughout the song.
I never noticed.
He did.
On his next song he announced what I did.
Usually I don't allow distraction at the beginning of a song.
By that time I had been there 7 hours and was getting a taxi home.
Before that, eight hours at work plus 2 hours driving.
I don't know why he did not get my attention.
Anyway he deservedly said I was bad.
I always refuse to be drawn in.
Anyway I think too much beer did it.
On shandy I am a name caller.
With brown beer I am very interactive.

Please someone tell me you are also fallible.

Jerry don't sweat it. We all have those moments when we get distracted from the job and things don't turn out the way we want them too.

Heck I've forgotten to do key changes for my regulars before their song started and then to my horror had to watch them struggle through the whole song knowing it was my fault. All you can do is apologize and hope they're understanding about it.

We're only human

"You're Only Human", good Billy Joel song to sing in such cases, though I don't think I've ever heard it in karaoke before.

I've done that, too, Babs. Or turned off the reverb to speak and handed someone a mic and forgot to turn it back on. Oops.

We are all mortals.

Although we never make mistakes, we have one of those Hollywood Clapboards so we can go "Take Two" on all the mistakes we make. It says, "Director: Jose Cuervo" on it.

One night I forgot to do the key changes on a visiting KJ and his wife and once I did it once, I did it EVERY single time they were up. Only on them. I must have been trying to graciously make them feel better about themselves.

7 hours worth of brown beer and you were still upright? I guess the important question is, what kindn of brown beer?

Mistakes, moi?

Too many to even mention.

Grabbing the wrong mic
Accidentally clicking on the right title, wrong artist.
Back when I was disc based -- accidentally opening the drawer that was playing in the middle of a singer's song and what made it worse was the guy was REALLY bad and he kind of knew it deep down, so he took it personally which it definitely wasn't -- just a total brain fart on my part.

It goes on and on. You are far from the only one, brother.

Lizard, I absolutely love the movie clipboard -- I'm adopting that one.

My show is so screwed up that people think it's part of the act. Well... I guess it is part of the act then isn't it.

LOL

When a song starts and they realize it's the wrong song (by my fault or theirs) I stop the song and I say "Mulligan" - Everyone gets at least one.

First night of a new gig last week. There's no house system so I have to lug my whole Bose panaray system which I don't use too often anymore. So right after a singer, I turned off the fader to the satellite speakers (thought it was her mic), but I had the bass going out of an Aux output so I thought I blew a fuse on the amp for the satellites. I spend two or three minutes with the filler music just coming through the sub trying to find the problem until I realized it was just a mistake.
My gf/co-host was glad to see me make a mistake because I'm always breathing down her neck about every little thing.
I'll take a mistake over a blown amp any day! :D
