Hey guys. I keep getting asked for songs that are currently out of print. The two big ones are Take Me Home Tonight and Possum Kingdom. Does anyone have any out of the box ideas on how to get them and/or a spare copy laying around? I keep checking eBay, but all I can find is the reissue of the Take Me Home Tonight disc without that song on it.

Thanks.

Well, I just checked karaoke.com, selectatrack.com, singtotheworld.com, and sbikaraoke.com and couldn't find those titles listed.

If it's "Take Me Home Tonight" by Eddie Money, then that would be SC8223. Discontinued, reissued as SC8223R. I think the song was replaced by "Separate Ways" by Journey

Check out this link. According to the site Platterpus Entertainment the original SC8223 is listed but it's in the UK. Cost: British Pound 16.33 or approx $26.00. Don't know how much shipping.

Although not indicated as discontinued they have a disclaimer that "some discs are discontinued or very hard to obtain. We do have very good contacts within the trade and our success rate in obtaining discs from this range is very high – although it can take some time".

Good Luck!

Yeah i'm betting it's not the original. I see stores advertise discs like that all the time, when you call/order they either say they are out of stock, or yes they do have & they send you the re-issue anyway. Have had that happen several times in the past.

Yeah. I doubt they are selling that disc for 16 Euros. I've seen one on eBay go for almost $200.

It's in the diamond set of the GEM series but you gotta be a pro KJ to get it.

 here's a quarter goldeneye.....you're a pro now......size and cost make it more for the pro, but they can only intend it, and anything else is discriminatory.....got the money, they'll sell it to you......what makes anyone a pro anyway....I've seen kjs doing it for years, making money......they sure ain't no pros.....lol

". Why Is the GEM Series only available to professional KJs, DJs and Venues?

We are licensing (not selling) the GEM Series content directly to the end user, in order to reduce the opportunity for piracy of the files. Each set of discs must be accompanied with the appropriate signed agreements in order for their use to be legal. The cost and size of the song packages lend themselves to the Professional Market only and working at the licensing is too complex to handle at the Consumer level. It is the intention of Sound Choice to make them available ONLY to professional KJs, who are our primary market for our MP3G files." **

I am Danny.

Considering I got yelled at in another post for "trolling" the Gem series, I don't think it's appropriate to get into my personal feelings about that here.

However, I think the cost of the Gem series is a bit excessive considering I'm only looking for a couple songs.

Well, Danny I hope you check out the link above just the same. Don't let disappointment sink in without trying. No foul no harm (or vice versa). What if?????

I doubt you will find the 8223 with the Eddie money too easy. While some online ads will be listing the songs for Eddie Money, they will actually send the 8223R because they just got the song list from the online databases when setting up their websites/advertisements.

I would strongly reccomend that you verify that you are getting 8223 with Eddie and not 8223R. Many websites were set up when they made the first order and got 8223 but they did not update when they restocked and got 8223R.

There was a copy of the 8223 with Eddie that was up for sale on E-bay last month. I fell out of the bidding at $50 but it went all the way up to $177.50. Since the other songs are the same as on 8223R which can be bought for about $17.50, that puts a value at $160 for the ONE song. For me it would be even less as I have 2 copies of 8223R (one bought due to an error in the add claiming it was a 8223). It sold on Oct 20, 2010.

Supposedly the lost classics version of Eddie Money is actually a database typo according to another thread and was never actually on the disk. But I dont have first hand info on that.

So it comes down to the Gem series, or a lot of luck (or money) to find the origional 8223 now.

I understand how frustrating that this is, because I have a regular who has requested the song several times. He even sang the song at another show (out of town) and while I bet that was a pirated version, it makes it harder to explain that I cant get his song. I like the singer but $160 for his song request seemed high.

or you could wait for karaoke version to make it. If it gets enough votes it will be made. I voted for it.
