Hi

I need some advice on buying a new home karaoke system. I would like to use it with my TV and my existing surround sound system and iPod if that's possible. The other issue I have is that I would like to be able to download karaoke songs from the internet and burn them onto a cd. I know it has to be in a CD+G format and I"m assuming it will require a special cd burner to do that? Also, can I just download these songs onto my iPod and use that instead to connect to the karoke system? Will the graphics display? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

To46,

I would suspect that no one has responded to you yet due to your reference to downloading songs off the internet and burning them onto a CD.

This is fine if you want to pay for downloads from the major manufacturers, but you have to be careful because there is a sea of illegal sites out there that circumvent copyright law. This is black market commerce. You will not receive any help in breaking the law on this site.

If your desired format is CDG anyway, why not just buy the CDGs, and not have to worry about the legality or burning the discs yourself? CDGs are the same price, if not cheaper, than legal downloads, in most cases.

Also, Apple does offer IPod karaoke that you can download from ITunes, but these are jsut the music tracks, and do not contain any of the scrolling lyrics. They are just straight MP3s that have the vocals removed. I do not think that is what you are looking for.

Take a few minutes and browse the karaoke.com web site. This is probably the largest and most reputable online site. This will give you an idea of what your options are as far as karaoke CDGs.

Once you do that, and are ready to talk about the hardware side of it, let us know.
