Well Mr. Scott... I'm disappointed with you.
I still don't see why you didn't just shoot her on the spot... I mean, from what I've been led to understand, ALL Americans pack heat (just like ALL we Canadians play hockey and drink beer)
And before Y'all (Note: Y'all) get upset with me, please be advised that my tongue is firmly in my cheek.

Typical tactful canuck! Kidding Earl...I also wear a canuck label.
I might also add here that I would venture to say, the entire room of singers who frequent my shows and who appreciate quality equipment would probably come unglued if some interloper came in and damaged THEIR (my) equipment...could be interesting to see how they all dealt with something like that.

Sometimes nice people turn into total A-holes when they are drunk and do things that they later regret. From the original post I took it that he normally likes these ladies and they were behaving out of character when they did this stuff. If I make a mistake by letting her sing again, at least she probably won't succeed in destroying such a sturdy microphone. If she does destroy it, then I'd probably go ahead and ban her from singing.
For that behavior, no second chance! Tell me you are sorry and pay for the replacement, then you can sing at my show. Until then, have fun in the audience!
Drunkenness is no excuse! Yeah it happens but you need to be man or woman enough to come back and apologize for your behavior and be ready to make amends! Period!

Well, I am not gonna "turn the other cheek" on this one. She is not going to be on my stage ever again. I can tolerate some things, but she willfully broke it, and then didn't even have the common courtesy to apologize. That is 2 offenses in my book. I can forgive one, but not the other. I totally agree. I have a "Two Strikes" rule myself, and it sounds like she got both strikes at once.

I would feel exactly the same way. And have.

Well, the windscreen is actually 3 pieces. The top part glues into a ring that also holds the bottom piece (which is where the threads are for attaching to the unit). However, it IS just glue. That's all that came apart. I can fix it with some good glue, or just replace the windscreen itself. As far as the quality of the mic, it does have its drawbacks. One, the case being made of hard plastic, two: the battery cover pops off quite easily, three: the handling noise is pretty high, if handled while in the mic clip. Other than that, the mic is great. I would recommend overall... But that is ANOTHER thread.
This woman was just beating the crap out of it, only took a couple of seconds to pop the top right off.

Got them on Thursday and was able to use them that night and again Saturday. OK, I had a group of ladies, one of which I simply adore, come and do a group song. Towards the end of the song, one of the gals, (I don't know this gal) starts smacking the microphone, and knocked the top half of the screen off. Yep she broke it. The screen falls on the floor, and she is YELLING into the mic.. I just turned off both mics as quickly as I could as soon as I noticed what had happened. I told her "you just broke my microphone".. She goes "so?",, and walks off.
Is it OK to beat someone just for being rude??? I mean, c'mon!!!! She broke it willfully! Her friend (the one I adore) apologized for her and wouldn't let her come back up on stage anymore. Although, I wouldn't have let her if she had tried. I was able to put the mic back together and use it the rest of the night, but will have to glue the top half back on.
Please let me shoot her!!!! PRETTY PLEASE!!!!!
Mine took it's first tumble Thursday night - this was a complete accident & the guy was very apologetic. Still worked though, so that 1 and counting!

I can both relate and sympathize, brother. I've got my share of "mic bangers" at my venue too. Fortunately, my mixer has a kill button for every channel and i've learned how to use it. I love it when they look at me when they don't hear the customary thump, thump, thump through the P.A. I just tell them, "it'll be on when you start singing". Some have gotten the message and quit doing it. However, the kill button wouldn't help knocking off the windscreen. Anybody who does that will never be back up, i'll tell you that. We do have that power anyway. I say, YAY! on blowing the bag away. Is she dead yet?

rock band isnt helping things either. when you are not singing you need to hit the top of the mic in time to keep going in the game. took me a while for people to tell me about that one. stupid !@#$% games

Thank you. That explains a few we have seen doing that very deliberately while staring at the screen. They can't seem to help themselves.

Hi all,
This is for John Reynolds I've been using Shure PGX2/SM58s for about 5 years. This is the list of spare parts that I use. I use Guitar Center to get them at a decent price. 65A8532B On/Off Cover Plates 65A8533 Rubber On/Off Buttons 65BA8451 Battery Covers 65A8595 Plastic On/Off Triangles A1K Anti Roll Devices RK143G Microphone Grills The only annoying thing about the wireless version is that while customers are waiting for their turn, unconsciously they are twisting the mic in their hands mushrooming the battery cover into the stock. This cracks the battery sled. Shure will repair them out of warranty, for no more that $100, no matter what is wrong, even if it was done maliciously! Sweet! Also, it's easier to tell a customer that they owe you $100 insead of $400
