Does your server determine the IP address of the CompuHost server and that is what the software passes it to?

It does this on the local network that I am already running for CompuHost?

If you are speaking to me, here is the sequence:

1. Start the network. It is attached to a wireless router that uses the SSID "karaoke". It is NOT attached to the Internet at large.

2. Start the DualServer software. It does two things:
a) Run DHCP to assign addresses to connecting clients. It also tells those clients where to go get their DNS....
b) Run DNS to translate names (like k.com or something.org) to IP addresses (i.e. 192.168.1.100).

3. Since the software is set up to provide DNS, when any request for a name comes in, it can give any address it wants. I have it give the address of the computer that is running the CompuHost kiosk server. That means that clients (which are the smart phones running a web browser) will be sent to the kiosk software when they ask for k.com.

So when the smart phone turns on WiFi, it will see the network "karaoke". When it connects, it will get an address from my system. When it asks for a web site, it will get the kiosk.

Right mckyj57, and yes I am talking to you.

So my question is... how does DUAL server know the IP address and port of the CH server? It doesn't change all the time, but it does change.

I have an extra wireless router that I would like to set up with my show computer so that there is an open wi-fi network that only allows people local access to my CH server without having to sign in to the network or determine the IP address of the CH server. What you are describing here sounds exactly like what I am looking for.

Right now I use a wireless hot-spot software called Connectify. I would have to look deep into the settings to see if can set it up as an open network (no password) and also see if I can get it to route all urls to the CH server/page.

The reason yours changes is that the wireless router or some other agent is set up to do the DHCP and DNS. It may or may not give you the same address between startups.

I set up DualServer to always issue it the same address (based on the MAC address of the ethernet or wireless adapter).

(Most wireless routers do allow you to map certain computers to certain addresses via the same method.)

I haven't looked at that. But I would think you could run DualServer in conjunction with Connectify.

But, getting back to singer histories, SongFinder does keep a history of who-sang-what and it's a simple matter to create a pivot table in Excel to see it any which way from Sunday.
But it cannot bring up an individual song history of a single person that wants to see it - correct?

I can see it will make a table of sorts that I can do it at home - which is what I do now for when they ask for a copy, I need it for them to be able to see it on the screen when they click their name.

Compuhost karaoke kiosk does let them see 100%. Just need to be able to see those locked CB songs from my KJMP

iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
According to the good folks at Invicion "Currently only unlocked (Purchased) KJ Media Pro HD songs can be displayed on the remote request kiosk. Locked KJ Media Pro songs will not appear on the remote kiosk.

We are researching ways to best integrate this capability and if and when this is determined we hope to implement this functionality (capability) in a future remote kiosk update revision which will be made available for download from our website."

I have about a half-dozen regular users of the smart-phone capability. I have had quite a few more one-time users of the system. That's because of the tourist trade in my market.

Any phone that can connect to a wi-fi network or hotspot can interact with CompuHost's kiosk as long as you can enter the IP address in a browser. That includes phones other than iPhones or Android based phones such as BlackBerry and Windows smart-phones.

I finally had some time to try this out last night. It works very well. Only thing I don't like (maybe there is a fix?) is that once you submit a song, you have to log on with your username and password again. Once for each submission.
