I have this Pocket Songs disc and I ripped it into my system quite some time ago but never bothered to check it and never had anyone ask to sing it. Well, when testing out a program the other day, I tried to play one of the songs from the disc, but the lyric screen stayed blank. Upon further examination, every song had a blank screen.
So, I decided to try to just play the disc. Blank screen on every song, right off the disc. The cover has a lyrics booklet with it and no where on it does it say compatible with CD+G, like my other PS discs. Is this disc defective or is it like the old karaoke cassette tapes where you had to read the lyrics of a sheet of paper? Kind of strange, if you ask me.

Pocket Songs had/have many CD"G"s that didn't have any graphics due to publisher restrictions. Even though the disc stated 'cdg' - especially when they first came out in the 90's. My Dad has a few Elvis discs stating CDG but no graphics. He called to inquire and they replied they were misprinted on the cover, and should have stated no graphics/words.

I kind of thought that's what it was, since the disc is in great shape and every single song on it was blank. Guess I'll be scrapping that one and I'll be double checking every older Pocket Songs disc I have. Thanks Lon!

Hi Diafel, I have that disc and it plays with the graphics displayed as normal.....words and all. Twenty tracks, the last 10 are without the guide vocal.

Strange.
I wonder if there were two versions of the disc made? The strange thing about mine is that the cover most definitely does NOT say "This disc is compatible with all Cd and CD+G players" anywhere on it or even inside when you open up the booklet, like all my other PS discs do. But every song is blank, no matter what player I put it in.

Does the disc say PSCD1040 or PSCDG1040 on the cover? If it states the latter, you can probably contact PS directly, and they will replace it for you (maybe at shipping cost).

It's PSCDG, but it is also an old disc. It's one of the original that hubby bought was back in the early 90's.
I doubt they would make good on it now. Not really a big deal anyway. In the 3 or so years that I've had it, not once has anyone requested anything from it. As I said, I only discovered it when testing a program.
In other words, this particular disc is not a big loss.
