Looks like the word SELECTION got truncated in my Subject line, so I'll repeat it here....

I'm very disappointed in Stellar Music's PHM:Country selections.

I just sent them an e-mail expressing my disappointment in their recent Country releases for Nov. thru Jan. I don't recognize any of the 30 songs in those discs as being new mainstreamed music. I even sent them a list of songs from the top 100 billboard as an example of the new and popular songs out there. Yes... I know that licensing has become harder for them, but even ChartBusters (which I would rather not start collecting) is coming out with stuff I recognize.

I'll post a reply back if they respond to me.

Cue,

I couldn't agree with you more on this subject. As someone that has been collecting every PHM Country disc, I've got more and more un-satisfied with the selection of songs too!

This is what I sent, and their reply.... I actually got a response from one of their top people (and yes... I did meet him and his wife 10 years ago... And BOY!!!, can they sing!!!). ....

Hi,

I have been a loyal customer of yours for over 10 years now. I would like to say that I am extremely disappointed in your choice of releases for November 2011, December 2011, and January 2012 on the Country songs. I listen to Sirius Radio (Channel 59 - The Highway), and I don't recognize any of these songs (that's 30 songs between 3 discs) as being anything
which is new MAINSTREAMED music (that's played on their station over the past 6 to 9 months).

What's going on here?????

I would love to see some of the more popular (mainstream) music, such as:

Baggage Claim - Miranda Lambert
Born Free - Kid Rock
Camouflage - Brad Paisley
Drink in My Hand - Eric Church
Hell on Heels - Pistol Annies
Honey Bee - Blake Shelton
I Don't Want This Night to End - Luke Bryan
I'm Gonna Love You Through It - Martina McBride
Keep Me in Mind - The Zac Brown Band
Knee Deep - The Zac Brown Band
Like My Dog - Billy Currington
Like My Mother Does - Lauren Alaina
Long Hot Summer - Keith Urban
Love Done Gone - Billy Currington
Old Alabama - Brad Paisley
One More Drinking Song - Jerrod Niemann
Ours - Taylor Swift
People Are Crazy - Billy Currington
Pretty Good at Drinking Beer - Billy Currington
Reality - Kenny Chesney
Red Solo Cup - Toby Keith
Storm Warning - Hunter Hayes
Takin' Pills - Pistol Annies
Tattoos On This Town - Jason Aldean
Teenage Daughter - Martina McBride
Tough - Kellie Pickler
Wanted You More - Lady Antebellum
We Owned the Night - Lady Antebellum
You and Tequila - Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter
You Lie - The Band Perry

Steven

Hi Steve,

I remember meeting you in Rhode Island about 10 years ago when Heidi had that party near the beach.

I agree with you. It is frustrating me as well. We are having some challenges getting licenses for many of these songs. I am hoping we can better agreements in place soon.

Thanks for providing the list. I will see if there is anything we can do.

Take Care,

Tony Walstra

I noticed that when I made the switch over to PHM in Nov. Got the Nov & Dec then just recieved Jan and I mentioned that the songs didn't seem like mainstream hits but just cheap fluff to get something released - nothing, and I mean NOTHING has been sung from those discs where as the Chartbuster newer songs were sung quite a bit.

PHM is getting their content via Sing it Now! and has been for a while now as far as I can tell. All of the physical discs I received as part of the Stellar CAP agreement have "Produced by Sing It Now!" on the labels.

I also received this in an email in November --

Effective immediately, please make checks out for PHM products to Sing It Now Records, Inc and NOT MGM Distribution.

If I were to speculate, I would say there is some "reconfiguring" going on over at Stellar.
