Has anyone ripped Sound Choice's SC8708? I got one the other day in and EBAY auction and there was a label on the shrink wrap that said "This Disc Copy Protected! Will Not Play On PCs Or DVDs."
This is the first time I have seen this and when I tried to rip it (using Power CD+G Burner) it seemed like everything was going fine but when I went to check out the rip there was nothing there even though winamp opened and the cdg windows opened there was no music or graphics.
I also tried CDGRIP & Audio Grabber but no results.
Can anyone think of another ripper or is this gonna be one of those discs that can't be ripped?

Only combo that I KNOW will work is Tricerasoft CDG Ripper, Plextor CDG certified CD ROM - not DVD drive & Windows 2000 Pro! I did all my Mediacloq'd discs with this combo perfectly - it did take a substantially long time, almost 12 hours (a couple even more) per disc, but I did 1 disc overnight for each disc I had!
Unfortunately, that tower died a year ago & i'm not going to downgrade my XP to 2000. The combo does not work with XP!

Since you have already purchased the disc, why don't you just ask someone who already has the tracks on their computer to just e-mail you the files? It would save a whole lot of time.

Another way: If you know someone with a QuicDisc standalone duplicator, ask them to make a copy in "safe" mode ( scans disc, corrects errors, and copies at 1x speed). You will find that the copy will not have MediaCloq and can be ripped using standard procedures.

thanks for the ideas unfortunately the only one that might work is the one Bruce suggested although I hate to do it that way but maybe the person I know has a way to rip it for me, will have to check with them and see.
Thanks

Is there an image of three circles, on top of each other, leaning to one side? That's the old mediacloq... unsure if they still had any out after the sc85xx stuff. I know they rereleased several of their discs in that format before abandoining a year later.

I have SC8700 and it is a media cloq disc so it's very possible that SC8708 is also a media cloq disc.

I might be wrong but I think I remember reading somewhere that SC had to replace a media cloq disk if you request it They didn't have the right to do this... Not sure but I might of got the info on the MTU board

You probably got it from the SOund Choice boards, that where Admin had said they would do that provided the disc is in their actiave catalog. Pay for shipping - like a replacement disc.
8700-8735 and a handful of other numbers were all Mediacloq'd.

Just took another look at this disc and couldn't find the 3 circle that Knightshow asked about but did see 5 circles leaning to the right and then noticed just about that it says "This disc is copy protected by Media Clog."
I hope it's true that I can get the disc replaced if it's still available. Guess I'll go over to SC and find out
Thanks All
L.W.

Yes, I remember It was the MTU Admin that had posted on his board a copy of the SC post... I've never been on the SC board but remember how much MTU hated SC at the time Funny, they are neighbours but don't seem to like each other
