During my show last Saturday evening, a young family that I'd not seen before showed up... a father, mother, and two daughters perhaps 6 & 8 years old.

When they handed in their request slips, one of the slips simply said:

Shelly and Monica
Hello Goodbye

Well, knowing there is a new group calling themselves HelloGoodbye, when it was time for the young ladies to sing, I asked them "which song by HelloGoodbye did they want"...

You guessed it. Not only did they want the Beatles' Hello Goodbye, but they absolutely nailed the song. I'm not even sure they had to look at the screen.

Heck, these kids' parents looked way too young to remember the Fab Four, let alone their kids.

I didn't get a chance to talk with them or the parents to find out how they came about singling Beatles songs... Hopefully they'll return this weekend.

Isn't that a kick? We get the same thing when we do the Boys and Girls Club--tiny kids wanting to sing Beatles songs. "Blackbird" comes to mind as one of the last ones done. We also had a young one sing "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" by the Animals. They also love the Beach Boys but so far no one has attempted to sing them. And yes, the parents are far too young to have "been there."

I did our high school "CAPE " (carnival after prom extravaganza) a couple times. More old songs like those are sung then the new stuff.
