To everyone: Do not email me requesting this song. Go find it online yourself.

OK, I know this is an old thread I'm dragging up, but does anyone have this or know where to find it?

You must have some really cool customers that are asking for this song. I'm sure it will be well received by all in attendance. I thought karaoke was for people who actually wanted to sing songs and not just find a reason to offend others. Sigh!

Wouldn't offend me. I have thought about creating this one for me to sing. Just depends on the audience and the mood.
Elvis used to offend people back in the day and all he did was shimmy and shake.

Interesting: why the secrecy about the source of a song??? Is this an attempt to show concern for a "trade secret"? Too funny...

I have no idea where to get this song (since it was never produced by a Karaoke manufacturer). The person asking for the song now (2 years later), was just told to contact Kevin. Kevin probably created that song on a disc himself (or someone else made it for him). Pure and simple... You want it, PM Kevin.... No secret.

I'm so glad that I don't feel the need to make other people uncomfortable at a karaoke bar. 50,000 song choices out there and some people feel the need to "sing" "I wanna F&^K you like an animal". You know what they say about first impressions. In my opinion, singing that song at a karaoke bar with a mixed crowd is like painting graffiti on a church. There will always be someone willing to stoop so low.

And I'm sure there are some bars that it wouldn't matter either. To each their own.

The trick is knowing when it's okay to use them, and not just go for the shock value regardless.

That's pretty much it, right there. I've been known to sing some "offensive" songs, but I tend to do it around a crowd that's appreciative of that type of music. Most of the places out here that have karaoke are rowdy, party-type groups. Of course, there's always a sliding scale of what is and isn't offensive. There are probably people out there who think Conway Twitty's "Lay You Down" is vulgar. Sometimes I get more offended by what people *find* offensive than anything else. Since the trend in music in a lot of these clubs and bars is now trending towards urban/hip hop/r&b, a lot of what gets sung is that stuff, and rap music is one of my go to genres (along with American standards and '80s/'90s alternative). Every now and then, you'll get someone who leaves because of it--not because the lyrics are offensive, but because, you know, that's "black people music," although that's rarely what they actually call it, if you catch my drift.

Just to clarify, I keep all my "adult" songs in a separate book, this would be for personal use or private parties only. The song is pretty damn funny for a duet. I did contact Kevin but hadn't heard back and since this was an old thread I was just asking in case anyone else found it.

I don't believe the lyrics to "CLOSER" are meant to be funny...but I could be wrong. there is nasty vulgar and there is funny vulgar. I don't believe that nasty vulgar belongs at a karaoke show sandwiched in between Elvis and Frank Sinatra. Just my opinion.

Surely you wouldn't want to use a song in a show that is not "properly licensed"...?!?!?
